BST’s mission was simple: design the lightest-weight motorcycle wheel possible. Lightweighting involves using advanced materials and engineering methods to enable structural elements to deliver the same or enhanced technical performance while using less material. It also represents an effective way to reduce energy consumption while enhancing performance.
The GP TEK front wheel weighs only 3.75 lbs/1.7 kg and the rear wheel is 5.29 lbs/2.4 kg (depending on fitment), constructed with specialized carbon fibre specifically selected for enhanced cornering stiffness. The hubs are made of 6000-grade aircraft aluminium; the fasteners are grade 5 Titanium; RFID tag traceability throughout its lifespan; a 100% carbon fibre inner spacer, and a specialized coating between the tire and rim that improves tire changing routines. And a world first is the internal support structures in the spokes that can only be created when using the most advanced manufacturing techniques as in F1.
